These images were obviously taken in the afternoon's direct sunlight...hot tamale! Above: Nice curl! Cool in the shade, both the guitar and the images. This is a little more realistic for the color.

This guitar was built for Fender Master Builder Stephen Stern. Stephen builds all the "tough" guitars at Fender; The Benedettos, the Gretches, the custom Arch-tops, etc. He's featured in the Chinery "Blue Guitars" book in addition to being an extremely talenty furniture maker and all around incredible woodworker. With that in mind...I don't think I have ever been so nervous during the build or the set-up as I have with this one.  However, he seemed genuinely thrilled this evening when he picked it up.

Cranking this thru his Custom Vibrolux/Deluxe hybrid produced a gritty and dynamic Rock and Roll tone. Rolling off on the volume gave a smooth sweet musical sound with just a hint of break-up. Digging in on the bridge position and you got enough dirt for any roadhouse. A simple machine capable of covering everything from blues to rock while looking good the whole time.

Stephen requested that his old co-worker and mutual friend Glenn Matejzel paint this in nitro. He also requested using black grain filler on the mahogany...what a technique, we'll be seeing more of that one in the future Killer job Glenn!!!

Stephen, you've never been "that guy" (as you put it) this whole build and I greatly appreciated your patience and encouragment over the past few years. I'm just as excited to hand it over to you as you were to receive it.

Thank you my friend!
Enjoy, Ron
