I'm really excited to play another SFC, they are just so comfy at the heel. Between the "look", the neck angle, and the over-all vibe - it's got some LP mojo for sure. I love the surprise when you flip the guitar around and you don't see cherry over mahogany, but instead a burst over korina - so cool and different.
On to the tone. Knowing how articulate the Valkyries are, this was going to be an interesting combination with the SFC neck joint and the Korina wood. Sure enough, flip it to the neck position and it still has a lot of girth. Not as thick and grunty as a Les Paul, but still meatier than the exact same combo in a double cut Thorn. If this was a mahogany body and slightly darker pickups, it would have LP nailed.
The korina keeps it clearer and slightly lower-midrange.
There is a coil-splitter on one of the Tones controlling both pickups which adds the bell flavor when needed.
